SBCC placed third in the Tour de Cuesta men's cross country race on Friday on a 90-degree afternoon in San Luis Obispo.
Jordan Shinn was the top finisher for the Vaqueros, taking 49th place in the 4-mile race in 26:19. Michael Cohen was 52nd (27:28) and Orion Kuang, Giel Ketelslegers and Ramon Casillas finished 54th, 55th and 56th on the Fairbanks XC course.
Manuel Fernandez of Mt. SAC won in 21:26, beating teammate Anthony Alfaro by five seconds. The Mounties had 14 of the top 18 finishers. They compiled a perfect score of 15. Saddleback was second at 51 and the Cal Poly Distance Club took third with 86.
The Vaqueros were third among college teams with 106 points.
Santa Barbara will compete in the WSC Championships on Oct. 20 at Bakersfield College.
