Michael Cohen turned in his all-time best 4-mile time on Friday to lead SBCC in the Southern Cal Preview men's cross country race at Don Knabe Regional Park in Cerritos.

Cohen finished 216th in the 313-runner field in 24:02. He shaved 2 minutes, 20 seconds off his season-opening time in the Ventura Invitational. Michael Tran was 242nd (24:48), Carlos Castillo placed 254th (25:22) and Lukas Abatie was 263rd (25:49).

Carson Bix of El Camino won the race in 20:01.

There were 35 schools with 28 scoring teams. San Diego Mesa was first with 90 points and El Camino took second, also with 90 points. Glendale was third with 104.

"This was an opportunity to see the course for the So Cal Championships (on Nov. 2) and the competition among the schools," said SBCC coach Scott Fickerson. "We have to keep training hard so we can move up in our placing but this was a good gauge of our fitness."

SBCC returns to action on Friday, Sept. 28 in the WSC Preview, hosted by Cuesta College.
