The accolades keep pouring in for the SBCC softball team, which just completed the best regular season in school history with a 31-5 record and its first WSC championship.

Kailey Snyder was named Pitcher of the Year for Southern California and Paula Congleton was selected Coach of the Year. There are 44 schools that play softball in six Southern Cal conferences.

Shortstop Laura Cannon made the all-state team, along with Snyder.

Snyder, a sophomore from St. Joseph High, went 27-4 with 26 complete games, one save and a 0.94 ERA. She struck out 233 -- the second-highest total in California -- and only walked 28. She had 14 shutouts, including a no-hitter and a perfect game in back-to-back outings, and also set a school record with 15 strikeouts in a game.

Snyder led the WSC Gold Division in batting at .478.

Cannon batted .455 with four homers and 32 RBIs, the second most in the conference. She also led the division in hits (52) and runs (34).

Congleton is in her 13th season as head coach. Last week, she was named WSC Gold Division Coach of the Year for the third time.

The Vaqueros, who won their last six games, are seeded 10th for the Southern Cal Regional and will play a best-of-3 series at Santa Ana, starting on Saturday.
