Celeste Acosta tossed a one-hitter in a 6-0 victory on Tuesday, then made a costly throwing error in a 6-4 loss as SBCC split a WSC Gold softball doubleheader at Oxnard.

Acosta struck out a season-high eight and walked one in the opener. The Condors didn't get a hit until Rebecca Lucero singled to lead off the sixth. Amanda Caras went 2-3 with a two-run single in the third for the Vaqueros (12-12, 5-3).

SBCC took a 4-0 lead in the third with Christal Vierra driving in a run and scoring on a passed ball.

"We played well in the first game but we continue to have trouble winning two games in the same day," said coach Paula Congleton. "Errors and pitching hurt us in the second game."

Shortstop Alice Cen went 2-3 in the nightcap. SBCC took a 4-1 lead with two runs in the fourth. Brianna Portese doubled, stole third and scored on a hit by Dakotah Wilcox. Alexandra Abbott walked, stole second and came around to score on Victoria Lucido's RBI single.

Abbott pitched the first three innings of the second game and Acosta finished up.

The Condors (3-19, 1-6) scored one in the fourth and four more in the fifth, thanks to a couple of errors and three walks.

SBCC travels to Moorpark on Thursday for a 2:30 p.m. game.
