Vaqueros crush SBVC to claim Golden West title

Rebecca Pullen tossed a four-hitter on Sunday morning and shortstop Delainy Ogan went 2-3 with four RBIs, guiding SBCC to a 16-4 softball rout of San Bernardino Valley in five innings.

The Vaqueros (12-5) captured the three-day Golden West Tournament title with a 4-1 record.

Pullen, Sydney Townes and Alyssa-Rae Jewell were named to the all-tourney team. Townes and Jewell both hit over .470 in five games and Pullen went 3-0 on the mound with a five-hitter and a four-hitter.

Santa Barbara averaged 9.2 runs in the tourney, outscoring its opponents 46-20.

Townes, Jewell, Christal Vierra and Alexa Sorensen all had two hits on Sunday for SBCC, which rapped out 14 hits. Hope Ballard, Vierra and Sorensen drove in two runs apiece.

The Vaqueros piled up five runs in the first inning and six in the second to take an 11-0 lead. Ballard had a two-run triple in the first and six batters delivered RBI singles in the second.

The Vaqueros open WSC Gold Division play on Thursday at Moorpark, starting at 2:30 p.m.
