Second baseman Alyssa-Rae Jewell went 7-9 on Tuesday and SBCC belted four homers in a WSC Gold Division softball sweep of L.A. Pierce in Woodland Hills. The scores were 18-0 and 16-1 with both games being called after five innings by the eight-run rule.

Sydney Townes was 3-5 in the opener with a home run. Rebecca Pullen also homered in Game 1. In the second game, Delainy Ogan and Christal Vierra belted home runs. Pullen (8-3) pitched all 10 innings, tossing a 4-hitter and a 3-hitter.

Vierra, a sophomore third baseman, went 5-9 on the day with eight RBIs. Ogan was 2-4 in the first game and drove in four runs.

The Vaqueros improved to 14-5 overall and 2-1 in WSC action. Pierce fell to 0-10 and 0-3.

"Overall, it was a good day to work on our confidence at the plate and take advantage of errors," said Paula Congleton.

The Vaqueros will complete their 12-game road trip on Thursday at Hancock, starting at 2:30 p.m.

This weekend, SBCC will host the eight-team Bash at the Beach at Pershing Park. On Saturday, the Vaqueros will battle Golden West at noon and Orange Coast at 4 p.m. On Sunday, they'll face Saddleback at 11 a.m. and Fullerton at 3 p.m.
