Madison McNamee held Hancock to three runs on five hits on Thursday, guiding SBCC to an 11-3 WSC Gold Division softball win over Hancock in Santa Maria.

McNamee, a freshman from Cabrillo High in Lompoc, allowed two earned runs with six strikeouts and four walks to boost her record to 7-3.

Third baseman Christal Vierra homered for the second straight game, going 2-3 with two RBIs for the Vaqueros (15-6, 3-1). Delainy Ogan pounded two doubles and drove in two runs.

The Vaqueros scored four in the first inning and four more in the fifth to build a 9-2 lead.

"We went in fired up and loud and we were very aggressive in the first inning," noted coach Paula Congleton. "It's been a long time since we sent eight to the plate and scored four runs in the first inning."

Ashley Ruiz was 2-3 for the Bulldogs (9-12-1, 0-4).

SBCC will host the Bash at the Beach this weekend at Pershing Park. The Vaqueros will face four Orange Empire teams. On Saturday, they'll battle Golden West at noon and Orange Coast at 4 p.m. On Sunday, they'll face Saddleback at 11 a.m. and Fullerton at 3 p.m.
