Ventura tops Vaqueros 10-2 in five innings

Anissa Padilla tossed a two-hitter on Thursday, leading Ventura to a 10-2 WSC North softball victory over SBCC in five innings.

The Vaqueros (9-6, 4-2), who are in the middle of a nine-game road trip, dropped their fourth straight while Ventura (10-6, 3-3) won for the sixth time in the last eight games.

Madison McNamee scored both runs for Santa Barbara. Maggie Jackson drove in a run with a sacrifice in the second inning and Sydney Townes doubled in the third.

Calista Wendell suffered the pitching loss, giving up four runs (one earned) on three hits in four innings. She struck out two and walked five.

The Vaqueros will travel to Santa Maria to take on Hancock in a WSC doubleheader on Tuesday at noon and 2 p.m.
