Richter racks up 2 homers and 7 RBIs in 20-3 rout

Alyssa Richter went 4-4 with two homers and seven RBIs on Thursday as SBCC cruised to a 20-3 softball victory at L.A. Pierce in Woodland Hills.

Richter, a freshman shortstop from Brighton, Colo., ripped two-run home runs in the first and fourth innings. She leads the Vaqueros in homers (6) and her 31 RBIs are No. 3 in the WSC North. The Vaqueros scored four runs in the first and eight in the second for a 12-0 lead.

Sydney Townes had a single, two doubles and a triple for the Vaqueros (14-12, 7-6), who outhit the Brahmas 24-7. Pierce fell to 0-20 and 0-13.

Monica Salas added three doubles and a homer that was nullified when a runner left second base early. Madison McNamee was 3-4 with three RBIs. The first five hitters in the SBCC lineup were 18-for-22 with two homers, a triple and seven doubles.

"It was a great day for the Vaqueros and everyone shined on offense," said coach Paula Congleton.

Isabella Gregson (5-2) went all five innings in the circle, giving up three runs on seven hits and striking out six.

The Vaqueros will play their next seven at home, starting on Friday when Oxnard comes to Pershing Park for a 2:30 p.m. contest.
