McNamee is 1st-team All-WSC; 6 Vaqueros make all-conference

SBCC's Madison McNamee has been selected to the first-team All-WSC North softball squad.

The sophomore first baseman from Cabrillo High in Lompoc was eighth on the conference hitting chart at .455 and batted .463 for the season, which was No. 3 in the WSC North. She was second in on-base percentage (.538) in 22 conference games and eighth in slugging percentage (.712).

  2017 All-WSC North Team

Outfielder Sydney Townes and shortstop Monica Salas and were second-team All-WSC selections. Townes, a sophomore from Cabrillo High, hit .382 in conference play with eight stolen bases and a .484 on-base percentage. Salas, a sophomore from Dos Pueblos High, hit .366 in conference with five homers and 27 RBIs. She was ninth in slugging percentage at .704.

The Vaqueros had three honorable mentions – freshman third baseman Alyssa Richter (.300 in conference, 6 HR, 29 RBIs), sophomore outfielder Maggie Jackson (.344) and sophomore catcher Connie Towne (.306, 15 RBIs).

The Vaqueros (22-16) won their last four games to finish fifth in the WSC North at 15-9.

Hancock and Ventura shared the WSC title at 19-5. Bailey Killough of Hancock was the Most Valuable Pitcher and Brittany Perez of Ventura was the Most Valuable Player.

Ventura's Sonia Ford was the Coach of the Year.
