It was a tough day for SBCC on Saturday as the Vaqueros scored just one run in a pair of softball losses at San Diego Mesa. Imperial Valley beat the Vaqueros 10-0 in five innings and San Diego Mesa recorded an 8-1 victory.

Isabella Gregson and Brandi Almaraz got the only two hits vs. Imperial Valley (7-1) and the Vaqueros (3-2) committed five errors.
Gregson had an RBI double in the fourth inning of the San Diego Mesa game. Gregson (2-1) pitched five innings and gave up six runs on eight hits.

"Imperial Valley and San Diego Mesa were two good teams, but we now know what we need to work on this week to get back on track as a team," said coach Justine Bosio. "I'm looking forward to our games this Friday and Saturday as we will be facing some good competition again.

"Our out-of-conference schedule is just making us stronger as a team when it comes to facing adversity. I'm hoping we can use those lessons to be a force on the diamond once conference rolls around."

The Vaqueros will play four games in two days on Friday and Saturday. They'll host a doubleheader on Friday at Pershing Park, taking on El Camino at 11 a.m. and Orange Coast at 3 p.m. On Saturday, they'll travel to Chaffey for a doubleheader at noon and 2 p.m.
