Anissa Padilla tossed a three-hitter on Tuesday and Ventura collected 13 hits in a 10-2, five-inning softball win over visiting SBCC.

Sophie Dahlstedt, the leadoff hitter, went 4-for-4 with a double, a triple and five RBIs for the second-place Pirates (22-9, 8-2 WSC North). Ventura led 8-0 after three innings.

Janet Salas doubled for the Vaqueros (11-15, 3-6), who've dropped three straight and six of their last seven. Shortstop Brandi Almaraz had a single and drove in a run in the fourth.

"It's hard to score runs when you aren't getting people on base," said coach Justine Bosio. "Unfortunately, we just did not come ready to play today. When you're playing good competition, they will take advantage of the opportunities you give them, and that is just what Ventura did."

The Vaqueros will host Moorpark on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
