Calista Wendell threw a three-hit complete game on Monday and had a two-run double in the second, leading SBCC to a 3-2 softball win at Cuesta.

The rain makeup game in San Luis Obispo was delayed a half-hour by rain.

Sloane Greeley and Isabella Gregson went 2-4 for the Vaqueros, who outhit the Cougars 9-3. Santa Barbara improved to 13-16 and 5-6 in the WSC North. Cuesta is 11-21 and 6-7.

Wendell, a sophomore from San Diego, allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits in seven innings. She struck out seven, walked three and hit two batters in her 10th complete game of the year.

The Vaqueros took a 2-0 lead in the second when Gregson and Jasmine Manson singled with two outs. Wendell followed with her two-run double.

The visitors made it 3-0 in the third on a double by Greeley, a groundout to second and a strikeout by Janet Salas. Salas reached on a passed ball and Greeley scored an unearned run that proved to be the game-winner.

The Vaqueros are playing five games in six days this week. They'll host Santa Monica on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m., then travel to Santa Monica on Friday.
