Emily LoneTree had a big day at the plate on Saturday to help SBCC earn a softball split at Fullerton College. The Vaqueros downed Long Beach 6-2, then lost to Fullerton 7-2 in a game that was called after four innings by darkness.

The Vaqueros (3-8) are playing five of six games on the road in February.

LoneTree, a freshman shortstop from Los Banos, went 2-4 with two doubles and four RBIs in the first game. Samantha Yanes was 2-3 and Hannah Weaver had a two-run single in a five-run second inning.

LoneTree made it 5-0 with a three-run double. Paige Powell got the pitching win.

"Paige threw a great game, holding them to just 2 runs," said coach Justine Bosio. "Our defense picked her up and made some great plays behind her."

In the Fullerton game, Shelby Featherston hit her first home run of the year, a two-run shot in the first inning. The Hornets matched those two runs in the bottom of the first and added five more in the third.

The Vaqueros return to WSC North action on Tuesday with a 12 p.m. game at Hancock.
