SANTA MONICA, Calif. – Alena Johnson earned her second win of the year, tossing five innings and striking out six as Santa Barbara City College earned a 22-1, five-inning victory over Santa Monica College on Thursday.
The Vaqueros got on the board early with Mia Gaitan driving in Mia Reveles on a sacrifice fly in the top of the first before Amarise Camargo slashed an RBI double to right.
That was all the run support Johnson needed as she gave up just one run on three hits. At the plate, Johnson hit a double, a home run and drove in a game-high five runs.
Gaitan finished with a triple and a double. Reveles hit a double and a home run for four RBIs with two stolen bases. Katelyn Lisi hit a pair of doubles, notched two RBIs and stole a bag.
Ultimately, the Vaqueros compiled 20 hits and five stolen bases.
The win was Santa Barbara's second of the season. Their record improved to 3-5 after Pierce College forfeited Tuesday's game.
The Vaqueros will play again at home on Thursday, March 20, when they host Cuesta College.
