The Vaqueros (5-6), who snapped a two-game losing streak, erased an 11-5 first-quarter deficit by opening the second period on a 15-2 run. That gave them a 20-13 lead and they made it 33-23 at the half.

SBCC outscored the Rams 28-12 in the second quarter, thanks to 50 percent shooting. The defense held the Rams to 4-20 shooting in the quarter.

"It was a great defensive effort against a very fast and athletic team," said coach Sandrine Krul. "We struggled with our shooting in the first quarter (2-25) but we'll get it together."

The Vaqueros hit 41.5 percent in the last three quarters.

Santa Barbara opened the third with another run, this time 14-4, and took its biggest lead at 47-27 on a layup by Pattison and a jumper from King.
