The Vaqueros (8-7) closed the second quarter on a 16-4 run that produced a 36-28 halftime lead. After the Vikings (8-7) got within four at 43-39 in the third, King ignited a 10-0 run that stretched the margin to 14 points. King, a 5-10 guard/forward from Antelope in Northern California, and Kesler Johnson scored five points each in the 10-0 rally.

SBCC outscored Barstow 38-23 in the second and third quarters. The Vaqueros went on a 20-7 run in the fourth period, boosting the gap to 24 points (78-54) on a bucket by Victoria Fortin with 3:24 to play.

Johnson tallied 14 points and eight rebounds, sparking the Vaquero bench to a season-high 38 points. Fortin scored eight, Hannah Rogers had eight points and four boards and starter Elissa Root added eight points and four assists.

Jocelin Petatan did it all for Santa Barbara with 11 points (on 4-7 shooting), eight rebounds, six assists and four of the Vaqueros' 16 steals.

"We did a great job of bouncing back after a tough shooting night (on Friday)," said coach Sandrine Krul. "We had 21 assists (on 31 baskets) and I love that. Our bench really contributed and that builds team unity.

"This was the biggest team we've played this year and we did a pretty good job on defense. One of our mottoes is 'Defensive intensity leads to offensive freedom.' When we do that, it doesn't matter who we're playing."

The Vaqueros outshot the Vikings 41.9 to 33.3 percent and outrebounded them 49-46.

SBCC will take on Glendale for the consolation title on Sunday at 11 a.m. Santa Barbara won the first two meetings with Glendale, beating their Vaquero counterparts by 18 and 22 points.
