SBCC shot a season-high 52.5% on Wednesday night in a dominating 79-42 women's basketball win over Oxnard at the Sports Pavilion.

Freshman guard Meagan Moore scored all 15 of her points in the first half when the Vaqueros (12-11, 4-3 WSC North) built a 47-21 lead on Coaches vs. Cancer Night. SBCC outscored the Condors 38-11 in the middle two quarters.

Aaliyah Pauling did it all with 13 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and three steals. Jennae Mayberry added a season-high 12 points off the bench.

The Vaqueros outshot the Condors 52.5 to 25% and hit 7-18 from 3-point country. They also won the rebound war, 45-31, for the 20th time in 23 games.

SBCC jumped out to a 16-6 lead on the way to a 26-15 first-quarter lead. The Vaqueros won the second quarter 21-6 to stretch the lead to 26 at the half.

"Tonight's game was exactly what we've been working on in practice," said coach Sandrine Krul. "Fast breaks and getting our stops on defense. Offensive intensity leads to defensive intensity.

"Aaliyah is a huge part of our success, on and off the court. She's taken Jennae and Lei-Helani Talaro under her wing. Tonight, Jennae played so well because of Aaliyah's mentorship."

The Vaqueros beat Oxnard for the second time in eight days. They downed the Condors 68-55 on Jan. 31 at Oxnard.

"Oxnard gave us a game a week ago and we fixed our fast break," noted Krul. "Plus, we started Morgan Giove, which gave us more offensive power and led to better rotations off the bench."

The Vaqueros won the bench battle, 36-9, and enjoyed a 38-10 advantage in points in the paint.

Kaysie Back had eight points and four rebounds off the bench on a night when all 12 Vaqueros got into the scorebook. Holly Barrera had five points, five rebounds and five assists.

SBCC travels to Hancock on Saturday for a WSC North game at 3 p.m.
