SBCC took a commanding 41-16 halftime lead on Friday night and went on to beat Oxnard 73-56 in its women's basketball season finale on the road.

Four players scored between 12 and 14 points for the Vaqueros (16-11, 4-6 WSC North) and all six sophomores had at least seven points in their final WSC contest.

The Vaqueros won the first quarter 18-7 and the second, 23-9.

Meagan Moore hit 4-8 on 3-poiniters and led the way with 14 points. Maaria Jaakkola nailed 3-6 from long range and scored a season-high 13 points with eight rebounds and three assists. Aaliyah Pauling also had 13 points and five assists. Jaakkola led the WSC North in 3-point shooting, making 20 of 43 for 46.5%.

The Vaqueros shot 42.1% and hit 11-of-31 from distance. They were nearly perfect on free throws, making 14 of 16.

Jennae Mayberry, a sophomore guard/forward from Clovis, added 13 points, three rebounds and five assists. Michaela Berber tossed in a career-high nine points in just eight minutes and Sierra Cavaletto grabbed eight rebounds.

"We felt good in our last conference game and our team energy carried us through," said Mayberry.

"We showed a lot of improvement this year," said head coach Sandrine Krul. "We finished 16-11 overall and that makes me excited for our incoming freshmen to keep the program successful."

Krul's teams have won 15 or more games in eight of her 15 seasons. And she's extra proud of her student-athletes 97% graduation rate.
