Chelsea Shirley scored a game-high 26 points and grabbed 12 rebounds on Saturday to guide Cosumnes River to a 65-62 women's basketball win over SBCC in the Santa Ana Tournament.

The Vaqueros (5-2) had their four-game win streak snapped.

Santa Barbara went up by nine (62-53) on a layup by Jada Forsdick-Stevenson with 4:54 to play. That proved to be their last points as they were outscored 12-0 the rest of the way.

Sophia Torres led SBCC with 24 points and nine rebounds. Forsdick-Stevenson had 14 points, six assists and three rebounds. Alondra Jimenez had an off-shooting night (3-14) but still contributed eight points, six rebounds and eight assists.

The Vaqueros led 47-41 after three quarters.

SBCC held the Hawks to 1-17 shooting on 3-pointers but committed 27 turnovers leading to 19 points.

"It was a great, great game, we just couldn't score in the last five minutes," said coach Sandrine Krul. "And Jordan Parkhurst fouled out with five minutes left.

"With five seconds left, I drew up a last-second play for Alondra to tie it with a 3. It was beautifully executed and it went in-and-out. We also turned it over three times in the last 50 seconds and that doesn't help."

The Vaqueros will play three games in the Hancock Tournament on Dec. 5-7, opening up with L.A. Harbor on Thursday at 3 p.m.
