Sophia Torres scored eight of her game-high 20 points in the fourth quarter on Thursday night as SBCC rallied past El Camino 58-55 for its fifth straight women's basketball triumph.

SBCC (11-3) opened the final period on a 10-0 run and took a 54-45 lead on a Jordan Parkhurst layup with 6:06 to play. The Warriors (3-8) got within three points in the final minute, then Torres canned a jumper for a 58-53 advantage with 16 seconds left.

Torres, a 5-11 sophomore forward from Santa Barbara High, was 4-4 in the fourth quarter and had nine rebounds, missing her seventh double-double by one rebound.

Sierra Cavaletto added 10 points, including 2-2 on 3's and Alondra Jimenez had nine points, five rebounds and six assists. Parkhurst also scored nine for the Vaqueros, who've won 10 of their last 12.

The Vaqueros led 32-26 at halftime, then got outscored 19-12 to trail by one (45-44) entering the final period.

"We gutted this one out," said SBCC coach Sandrine Krul. "In games like this where both teams are scoring back and forth, it always comes down to defense. And El Camino is better than their 3-8 record. They play very hard and are very well-coached.

"We started to pull away when we went to our zone defense in the fourth."

SBCC will play its final game of 2019 and its third game in four days on Friday in the El Camino Crossover, taking on Golden West in a 3 p.m. contest at El Camino.
