SBCC Closes Riverside Tournament with Win over Bakersfield

RIVERSIDE, CA – The SBCC women's basketball team improved to 3-2 on the year with a 67-49 win on Saturday over Bakersfield to close out the Eighth Annual EOS Tournament at Riverside City College. The Vaqueros fell to Solano 70-58 on Friday.

SBCC 67, Bakersfield 49
Point guard Brianna Jacobs led the Vaqueros with a career-high 17 points in the win over the Renegades (1-4), going 6-of-13 (.462) from the field and 5-of-6 (.833) from the free throw line.

Isabella Jensen Williams was a beast on the boards yet again, pulling in a career-high tying 14 rebounds along with six points and a pair of steals. Center Paityn Persson nearly had a double-double with 11 points and nine boards to go with three blocks.

Off the bench, forward Eva Carrejo notched her first double-double with 14 points (6-14 FG), 10 rebounds and three swipes.

The Vaqueros ended the first half on a 10-2 run to take a 36-28 advantage into the break. SBCC put the game to bed with a big 8-0 run to end the third. Carrejo hit a three and Jacobs followed with a three-point play and another layup over the final 25 seconds of the period to put the Vaqueros up 50-32.

Solano 70, SBCC 58
On Friday, Santa Barbara was handed its second loss thanks to a big second half for Solano (1-3) which saw the Falcons outscore the Vaqueros 44-31 over the final 20 minutes.

The Vaqueros had three double-digit scorers for the first time this year, led by Jensen Williams with 16 points (7-20 FG), nine rebounds and five steals. Persson once again finished with 11 points and nine boards.

Guard Isabella Favazzo added 11 points off the bench, continuing to be SBCC's most prolific three-point shooter early in the season knocking down 3-of-7 from deep.

SBCC was a +12 in the turnover battle, forcing 30 while committing 18, but the Vaqueros were outshot 45.2 to 30.9 percent and allowed Solano to go 28-of-46 on free throws.
