SBCC finished second for the third straight time on Monday in the third WSC women's golf tournament at Knollwood CC in Granada Hills.

Saralisa Ortega tied for fourth and led the Vaqueros (15-10-1, 9-3) with an 81. Laine Johnson shot 86 and Tiffany Huang 89.

Canyons won the team title with 323 strokes on another warm day with temperatures in the mid-80s. SBCC was second at 353. Lexandra So of Citrus was the medalist at 78.

"This course was tougher and a little hilly," said coach Chuck Melendez. "There were a lot of blind shots into greens. And the heat was a factor again."

SBCC will host the North-South Invitational on Sunday and Monday at Morro Bay Golf Course. Melendez expects a field of about 18 teams.
