Vaqueros are second in WSC No. 4

Saralisa Ortega shot 84 and took fourth on Wednesday while SBCC was second in WSC No. 4 at San Dimas Canyon Golf Course. Nicole Reynolds and Sara Pettersson added 90s for the Vaqueros, who shot 358.

Canyons won the WSC women's golf tournament for the fourth straight time at 341. The Cougars lead at the midpoint of the conference race with a 16-0 record, followed by the Vaqueros at 12-4.

Jamie Lopez of Citrus was the medalist at 78. Ortega finished fourth.

"It's always a tough day down here," said SBCC coach Chuck Melendez. "There's a lot of elevated greens. We had a tough time on the front nine but did a nice job of coming back."

The Vaqueros will compete in WSC No. 5 on Monday at Kern River GC in Bakersfield.
