Santa Barbara City College dominated WSC women's golf tournament No. 3 on Monday with a 320 score that was 70 strokes better than runner-up Citrus.

Vanessa Watkins, a freshman from Arroyo Grande, earned her first medalist honor with a 5-over 77. She shared the medalist award with teammate Yu-Hsin (Carolin) Chang who had three birdies in her round of 77 at Elkins Ranch GC in Fillmore.

Daniela Ruffo, a freshman from Coronado, Calif., shot a season-best 82 for the unbeaten Vaqueros (33-0, 18-0). Danielle Picard carded an 83 and Savanah Boss shot 84.

"The putting was a little tough today because they just punched the greens a week ago," said SBCC coach Chuck Melendez. "Still, we shot 21 strokes better than last year on this course.

"Carolin was steady and Vanessa brought it back after being a little frustrated after 10 holes. Dani Ruffo is really improving (shooting nine strokes better than last Monday)."

The Vaqueros will host the North-South Invitational, featuring all the top teams in California, on Sunday and Monday at Morro Bay Golf Course at 8:30 a.m. The Morro Bay course is the same site where SBCC won its fourth state championship last year and will be the host of this year's state championship on Nov. 13-14.
