Vanessa Watkins led a 1-2-3 SBCC finish with an even-par 74 on Wednesday in WSC women's golf tournament No. 4 at Antelope Valley Country Club.

Watkins, a freshman from Arroyo Grande High, had four birdies and won her second medalist honor, missing her season low by one shot. Carolin Chang was second at 76 and Danielle Picard carded her season best of 77 to finish third.

The consistent Savanah Boss added an 83 and Corina Garcia shot in the 80s for the first time this year with an 85.

Santa Barbara won the seven-team tourney with a 310 that was two shots off its season best and its lowest score in relation to par (14 over) this year. The Vaqueros beat Citrus (371) by 61 shots. Antelope Valley was third at 398 and the other four schools didn't post a score because they didn't have four players.

The defending state champion Vaqueros are 52-0 overall and 24-0 in WSC play with seven tournament wins.

"Vanessa played great on a tight course," said coach Chuck Melendez. "She was 3-under-par at one point. I'm really happy for Danielle and Corina shooting their season bests.

"It was a good day for us and I'm happy with the way we go about our business. This is the hardest-working team I've ever had."

Santa Barbara returns to action on Monday, Oct. 3 in WSC No. 5, hosted by Citrus at San Dimas Golf Course.
