Stephanie Farouze fired a 78 and Lauren Calvin shot 79 on Saturday, helping SBCC to a second-place finish in the Desert Classic women's golf tournament at Tahquitz Creek Resort in Palm Springs.
Calvin took seventh with a 36-hole total of 160 (81-79). Farouze shaved 10 strokes off her first round and finished ninth at 166. Katie Stribling of Irvine Valley was the medalist at 145 (74-71) and Brittney Do of Saddleback was second at 151 (77-74).
Desert won the tourney with a blazing 302 on Saturday, 38 strokes lower than its first-round tally. The Roadrunners totaled 642 strokes and beat SBCC (335-340--675) and Reedley by 33 shots.
The Vaqueros (10-3) won a playoff for second place with a better fifth-person score (Juliet Parsons' 93 beat Reedley's fifth player by two strokes).
Santa Barbara will take next week off, then host WSC No. 2 on Monday, Sept. 10 at the Santa Barbara Golf Club, starting at 10 a.m.
