Was diagnosed with scoliosis when she was 12 years old. Until she was 15, she had to wear a hard plastic scoliosis brace 18-22 hours a day in order to prevent her spine from curving more during her growth spurt, with the only exception being when she played a wide variety of sports. Unfortunately, the brace was ineffective because she has a "stiff curve" and she has lived with chronic back pain since she was 16 years old. She had to quit all other sports except golf, which is the only one where the back pain is manageable. She has had to do physical therapy for years after a childhood filled with MRI’s, X-rays and doctor’s visits about her future spinal fusion. With all of that, she was able to manage a high GPA in school, competitive travel, club and school sports, the same job since she was 16, and is grateful to have family and friends that fulfill her life.
