Camarillo, Ca. For the second consecutive week, the SBCC Women's Golf Team brought home 3rd Place, this time in the WSC #3 match, played at Sterling Hills GC in Camarillo, Ca. Familiar foes of Moorpark and College of the Canyons were first and second, respectively, but the margin of shots was the closest it's been all season. SBCC came in with a team score of 345, six shots away from Moorpark (339), and five shots from second place Canyons (340).  "We continue to battle out there, and the margin between us and first and second place is getting smaller," said head coach Devin Engebretsen. "Sophie McCoy has really been playing well, and this week we had three scores in the 80s which is outstanding. I think once we get all four scores in the 80s or a couple in the 70s, we can get back into the race for first place."  The previous mentioned McCoy shot a 5-over 76 to have the 3rd lowest score of the tournament, including back-to-back birdies on 10 and 11 to bring her to only one shot over par. A small stumble on 16 led to her being 5-over, but she was able to bounce back with incoming pars on 17 and 18. Sophomore Megan Duncan was able to post a solid 86 for 11th place, which included a 20 foot par save on the 18th. Freshman Kimberly Lubby came in with an 88, and sophomore Emily Ruiz rounded out the posted team scores with a 95. Freshmen Amaya Urquidez and Ella Arce shot 98 and 100, respectively.

The Vaqueros currently sit tied for 4th place in the WSC with Bakersfield with an 11-7 record. See below for all standings. SBCC next travels to Olivas Links GC in Ventura, Ca on Monday, September 25th for WSC #4, hosted by College of the Canyons. First tee is 11:30 am.
