Brandie Harris gets hat trick and record in 7-0 rout

Brandie Harris scored three goals in a six-minute span of the first half on Friday afternoon to break the all-time school record and lead SBCC to a 7-0 women's soccer victory over Hancock in the regular-season finale at La Playa Stadium.

Harris scored on a rebound of her own miss in the 11^th minute, then converted a 16-yard shot in the 15^th minute for her 28^th goal. That broke SBCC's single-season record of 27, set by Jessica Dominichelli in 2011. Harris drilled her record-setting goal into the top left on an assist from Lauren Dickson.

Harris got her fifth hat trick of the season and 29^th goal in the 16^th minute to make it 6-0. She scored on another rebound after her shot was blocked.

"It feels good," said Harris, a 5-7 sophomore from Dos Pueblos High. "I yelled 'Yes' when I got the record. I was so stressed in the locker room, I was shaking."

Harris has scored in eight of the last nine games and has 20 goals during that stretch. She's the No. 1 goal-scorer in Southern Cal and No. 3 in the state.

The Vaqueros, ranked No. 17 in the state and 10^th in Southern California, improved to 12-5-2 overall and 8-2-2 in the WSC North, good for third place behind L.A. Pierce and Ventura. SBCC should receive a playoff bid and will find out who it plays on Monday..

Santa Barbara scored six times in the first 16 minutes against a Hancock team that only had 10 players due to injuries.

Briana Lopez opened the scoring in the 7^th minute on a corner kick from Sam Maxwell and a flick pass by Sonja Gustavsson. Dickson found the net a minute later and then assisted on Lopez's second goal and eigth of the year – a header in the 9^th minute.

Lopez and Harris were two of six sophomores playing their final home game.

Coach John Sisterson replaced most of his starters in the first half and Harris went to the bench in the 25^th minute. Gianna Zembo got her first goal of the year in the 30^th minute to make it 7-0.

"We told them they had to focus, treat this team with some respect and get after them early," said Sisterson. "We'll find out who we play in the playoffs but we really need to focus on ourselves.

"That's great for Brandie (to get the record). She's been a fantastic player and she's going to pursue a nursing degree. I'm delighted for her."
 Goalie Brianna Robinson and the defense recorded their fifth shutout of the season. SBCC, which is 8-2 in its last 10, opened and closed the regular season with 7-0 victories.
