Chaffey scored twice in the last 10 minutes to hand SBCC a 3-1 women's soccer defeat on a hot Friday in Rancho Cucamonga.
The Owls took a 1-0 lead on a breakaway in the 22nd minute but the Vaqueros (0-2-1) tied it five minutes later. Lena Gustafsson attacked the right side and delivered a high ball to Jackie Hollmer, who headed it in for the equalizer.
Chaffey scored in the 80th and 85th minutes to secure the nonconference win.
"The girls competed well," said coach John Sisterson. "It was a very hot day, about 98 degrees. We had our chances. I think the heat got to us in the last 10 minutes."
Chaffey is 3-0 and has outscored its opponents 9-1. Hollmer's goal was the first one they've allowed this year.
The Vaqueros will travel to another warm destination, Taft, on Tuesday for a 1 p.m. contest.
