Freshman Kaitlyn Saperstein scored for the second straight game on Saturday and Alex Camarillo recorded her second consecutive shutout, leading SBCC to a 2-0 upset of City College of San Francisco in the Nike Women's Soccer Classic at Ventura College.

The Vaqueros improved to 2-0 while the Rams, ranked No. 17 in the nation, fell to 1-1.

Camarillo made an outstanding save on a free kick in the sixth minute. A minute later, Saperstein got a ball on the right side and whipped it over the head of the keeper for a 1-0 lead. Andrea Skjold was denied on several strong chances in the early going.

The Vaqueros led 1-0 at halftime and Blayne Shoffit had two good looks at the goal in the 57th and 65th minutes. Then Shoffit ran past the defense and was pulled down in the box in the 78th minute, leading to a penalty kick that Steph Romero converted for a 2-0 lead.

San Francisco was coming off a 1-0 win over Ventura, which was ranked 19th in the preseason.

"We played very well, it was a competitive game," said SBCC coach John Sisterson. "To beat a team like that and hold them scoreless was outstanding."

The Vaqueros travel to Taft on Tuesday for a 1 p.m. contest.
