Ladek’s late goal secures 2-2 tie in 1st-place battle

Mila Ladek scored the equalizer in the 82nd minute on Tuesday night and SBCC women's soccer held on to first place with a 2-2 tie at Ventura.

Ladek, a sophomore midfielder from Woodland Hills, scored off a pass from Nicole Van Sickle.

The No. 7-ranked Vaqueros (11-2-2, 6-0-1) are unbeaten in their last 16 WSC contests (15-0-1) and they have 19 points in conference with three games left. Ventura (7-6-5, 5-1-1) is second with 16 points.

The Vaqueros are unbeaten in their last 10 games (9-0-1).

Isabella Viana opened the scoring in the sixth minute by converting a corner kick from Ingrid Gunnarsson into her 16th goal. She's scored in six straight games and she's second among WSC North goal scorers and third in points (39).

Ventura answered in the 10th minute when Jasmin Ambriz stole the ball in the right corner and scored inside the near post. Ambriz struck again in the 25th minute and Ventura led 2-1 at halftime.

Ladek got her second goal in as many games and third of the year to tie it in the 82nd minute.

The Vaqueros will travel to Cuesta on Friday for a 4 p.m. game, then play their last two WSC contests at home on Tuesday vs. Hancock (7:30 p.m.) and Friday, Nov. 9 vs. Moorpark (7 p.m.).
