SBCC seeded No. 3 in Regional, will open at home on Saturday

SBCC received the No. 3 seed for the Southern California Regional women's soccer playoffs and will host a first-round game on Saturday at 7 p.m. in La Playa Stadium.

The Vaqueros (14-2-2) will play No. 14 San Diego Mesa (11-4-5). The Olympians blanked Pacific Coast South champion Southwestern 2-0 in Thursday's play-in round.

The Vaqueros won their second straight WSC North title when Moorpark forfeited the regular-season finale. Santa Barbara went 9-0-1 in conference and is 18-0-1 in its last 19 conference games.

SBCC, last year's state runner-up, is unbeaten in its last 13 games (12-0-1). The Vaqueros are 8-0 at home this year and have won 21 straight at La Playa.

Isabella Viana is the Vaqueros top scorer. The 5-7 sophomore from Antelope Valley led the WSC North with 21 goals and 49 points. She's 11th in the state in goals.

Sophomore midfielder Ashlee Schouten is the WSC North assist leader with 15, one shy of the school record.
