Mila Ladek was selected as Athlete of the Week by the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table and she picked up her award during Monday's press luncheon at Harry's Plaza Café.
The award goes to the top female performer in the Santa Barbara area, which includes UCSB, Westmont, SBCC and the local high schools.
Ladek, a sophomore midfielder on the SBCC women's soccer team, scored two goals in a 4:38 stretch of the first half on Tuesday, Nov. 20, leading the Vaqueros to a 2-0 shutout of Santa Monica in a Southern Cal Regional semifinal at La Playa Stadium.
They were the fifth and sixth goals for Ladek. She was the Vaqueros' fourth-leading scorer (6 goals, 5 assists) and was an All-WSC North second-team selection.
The Vaqueros (16-3-2) lost in the Regional Final on Saturday, dropping a 1-0 heartbreaker when Santiago Canyon scored in the 103rd minute of overtime.
