Vaqueros edge Ventura to win WSC No. 3

Reese Ellestad captured the 50 and 100 freestyle on Friday and Addison Seale took the 400 individual medley, leading SBCC to victory in the third WSC women's swim meet at Cuesta in San Luis Obispo. The Vaqueros edged Ventura 311-309 in the five-team meet.

Ellestad won the 50 free in 25.74, winning by 1.06 seconds. Teammate Mackenzie Richards was third in 27.02. Ellestad took the 100 free in 56.46 as the Vaqueros (12-0) won their third straight WSC meet.

Seale won the 400 IM in 4:57.26 and Alex Humann was first in the 200 free in 2:05.02 and Halie Johnson took third.

Kristina Hill was second in the 500 free and shaved six seconds off her season best with a time of 5:30.06.

Haley Crowley was fourth in the 200 breast in a season-best 2:44.74 and Tessa Brinkman placed fourth in the 1000 free in 13:10.90. Anna Manfreda took fifth in the 200 back in 2:35.98.

"We had some good swims, the girls gave a ton of effort," said coach Chuckie Roth. "We were a little sick and tired but we had some great  performances . I am so proud to coach this group.

"We will swim in the Pasadena Invite, then we have three weeks until conference championships The girls have trained well, we just need some fine tuning and to be healthy."

The Vaqueros return to the pool on Friday and Saturday in the Pasadena Invitational.
