Vaqueros set 2 school records on Day 1 of State Championships

SBCC set a pair of school records on the opening day of the State Swimming & Diving Championships at East L.A. College in Monterey Park.

The Vaqueros are tied for third with Las Positas in the 44-school women's field with 90 points. Orange Coast won all five swimming events and leads the team competition with 161.5 points. Sierra is second with 118. Orange Coast and Sierra have 15 athletes at the meet while the Vaqueros have eight.

Addison Seale took third in the 200 IM with the No. 2 all-time school mark of 2:11.07. She was the fifth-seeded swimmer going into the morning prelims.

Kristina Hill was fourth in the 500 free and lowered her school record to 5:14.47.

The 200 free relay placed fourth in 1:39.56 and shaved 0.22 of a second off their school record. That unit consisted of Reese Ellestad, Mackenzie Richards, Alex Humann and Kendra Carr. Fourth place is the best State finish by a Vaquero relay in school history.

The Vaqueros were seventh in the 400 medley relay in 4:12.25. Ellestad was 13th in the 50 free (25.30) and Carr took 16th (25.63).
