SBCC's Gina Jacobson dominated the competition on Friday, claiming a pair of firsts in the 1-meter and 3-meter in the second WSC diving meet at the Ventura Aquatic Center.

The freshman from Madison, Wis., has won five of six competitions this season.

She increased her scores by 15.20 points in the 1-meter and 52.30 points in the 3-meter. She won the 1-meter springboard with 231.85 points, beating the runner-up Nikki Guraglo of L.A. Pierce by more than 91 points.

Guraglo was second at 140.65 and Hancock's Stephanie Rodriquez took third at 98.70.

Jacobson was first in the 3-meter diving with a season-high 266.55 points. Teammate Ashley Dettmann missed the competition due to illness.

"Another great meet for Gina," said coach Trish Salvatore. "She had an incredible inward one-and-a-half with a beautiful finish to cap off the 1-meter event. Wonderful to watch and pure grace.

"In the 3-meter, her forward 2½ somersault pike was breathtaking. She finished the meet with a reverse 1½ somersault tuck that dropped in with no splash. I was overjoyed for her and so proud. She is a very gifted athlete."

SBCC will compete in WSC swim meet No. 1 on Saturday at Canyons. The next dive meet (WSC No. 3) will take place on March 17 at L.A. Valley, starting at 11:30 a.m.
