Alex Humann scored 30 points on Saturday with two fourths and a second in the 400 free relay and SBCC placed sixth in the 39th annual Cuesta Invitational swimming and diving meet in San Luis Obispo.

Humann, a sophomore from San Francisco, took fourth in the 200 free in 2:01.69, the fourth-fastest time in school history. There were 100 swimmers in the 200 free in 15 heats. She was also fourth in the 500 free in 5:22.95, the No. 5 all-time mark.

Sierra, the state runner-up last year, won the two-day meet that featured 25 schools with 781 points. Santa Rosa was second at 497 and Orange Coast took third with 297. The Vaqueros only swam on Saturday while most teams competed both days.

SBCC also got significant points in diving with Gina Jacobson taking first and second in the 1- and 3-meter springboard and Ashley Dettmann placing fifth and seventh.

"We had a great day, I was very pleased with our sixth-place finish after competing on Saturday only," said coach Chuckie Roth. "Our divers were a huge part of our team's success.

"Alex Humann's swims were very impressive. We are trying to fill the void of redshirt Tina Hill. She will be able to do that for us. In addition, we moved Halie Johnson to the 200/500 combo. Both swimmers will make this one of our stronger events."

Addison Seale racked up 27 points with a fifth in the 200 free (2:02.16, #4 on SBCC all-time list) and a sixth in the 100 breast (1:13.34). The 400 free relay had the highest finish of the day with Seale, Humann, Reese Ellestad and Johnson taking second in 3:47.01.

Serafina Chavez was sixth in the 100 IM and Mackenzie Richards placed 7th in the 50 free. Anna Manfreda was eighth in the 100 IM (1:09.44), just 43-hundredths behind Chavez's time.

"Anna Manfreda swam great, her versatility will help in the conference championships," noted Roth. "Ellestad and Seale swam solid and provided great leadership. And Richards, our All-American goalie from water polo, continues to find ways to make impacts. She is a special kid who will do anything for her team. She swam great in the 100/200/50 freestyle and 100 back. She is making a big splash filling in for redshirt Kenda Carr.

"We swam really well and had our hardest week of training yet. It was a great sign to see them responding to our hard work. It is back to the drawing board this week, finding little things to work on to create big end-of-season improvements."

The Vaqueros divers will compete in WSC No. 3 on Friday at L.A. Valley at 11:30 a.m. The swimmers will be at L.A. Pierce on Friday for WSC No. 2, starting at 2:30 p.m.
