Reese Ellestad captured the 50 and 100 freestyle on Friday and swam a leg on the victorious 400 medley relay, guiding SBCC to first place in the third and final WSC women's swim meet at Hancock College.
Ellestad, a sophomore from San Diego, clocked a season-best 25.25 in the 50 free, beating Cuesta's Katie White by 38 hundredths of a second. She also claimed the 100-yard freestyle in a season-best 55.91, edging White by 0.60 seconds.
The two-time defending WSC champion Vaqueros won the five-team meet with 125 points. Hancock was second with 93 points, one better than Cuesta.
The Vaqueros improved to 13-0 overall and 13-0 in the conference. They've reeled off 54 straight WSC victories since dropping their first-ever meet to Bakersfield on Feb. 27, 2015.
Santa Barbara won the meet-opening 400 medley relay in 4:19.18 with a team of Ellestad, Addison Seale, Serafina Chavez and Alex Humann.
Humann recorded a pair of seconds in the 200 free (2:04.48) and 500 free (5:35.76).
"I was really pleased with how we performed today," said coach Chuckie Roth. "It was a competitive meet and Reese swam two great races, plus the relay win."
Seale was third in the 200 breast (2:36.68) and swam on two winning relay teams. The Vaqueros captured the meet-ending 400 free relay in 3:56.68 with a team of Anna Manfreda, Halie Johnson, Mackenzie Richards and Seale.
Chavez was second in the 200 butterfly (2:34.37) and fourth in the 400 IM (5:25.73). Johnson took third in the 200 free and fourth in the 500 free. Manfreda was third in the 200 back (2:29.95) and sixth in the 400 IM.
The Vaqueros will compete in swimming and diving at the prestigious Pasadena Invitational on April 7-8.
