Santa Barbara City College's women's swimming team took first place in a ten-team field at the Western State Conference No. 2 Invitational held at Bakersfield College.

A number of SBCC swimmers set personal bests to lead the Vaqueros to the victory.  SBCC's women topped the field with 331.50 points while Bakersfield finished second with 297.

"I'm really proud of the way we swam today," said head coach Chuckie Roth.  "We were about 80% of our best times this season, which is very encouraging after our hardest week of training.  This group is special and I think we will have a really great end to this season."

Kelee Shimizu led the way for SBCC, taking first in the 1000 free and 500 free while placing second in the 100 fly.

Megan McKillicantook first in the 100 free with a time of 57.97 and place third in the 200 free and 200 IM with times of 2:06.06 and 2:25.82, respectively.
