Muehring claims WSC title in 1-meter diving

Erika Muehring captured the WSC 1-meter diving title on Friday on the first day of the WSC/Southern Cal Championships at El Camino College in Torrance.

Muehring, a freshman from Calabasas High, totaled 139.75 to edge Hancock's Kailey Roux (136.00). SBCC's Anna Watkins was fourth (124.00), Nicole Poulos took sixth and Bailey Gonzalez was seventh.

Alejandra Gomez of Cypress won the Southern Cal crown with 246.65 points. Muehring was ninth out of 22 divers, Watkins was 13th and Poulos was 17th.

The divers will compete in the 3-meter springboard on Saturday.
