Watkins takes second in WSC 3-meter diving

Anna Watkins placed second and Erika Muehring took fourth in the WSC 3-meter diving final on Saturday at El Camino College.

Hancock's Kailey Roux won the event with 181.65 points. Watkins was second with 115.20 and Muehring was fourth with 112.15.

"Anna and Erika gave a strong finish on 3 meter, considering that they only had a few practices on the 3-meter board," said Vaquero diving coach Trish Salvatore. "It was so rewarding as a coach to see them finish so well in the standings. I am very proud of them, they have come so far and will go further because of their tremendous will and spirit."

Ashley Dettmann, a former SBCC diver, won the Southern Cal 3-meter title for San Diego City, scoring 259.60 points. Alejandra Gomez of Cypress was second at 228.70. Watkins placed 12th and Muehring was 14th.

The Vaquero swimmers will go for a fourth straight WSC title on Thursday through Saturday at Bakersfield College.
