Kelee Shimizu was selected as female Athlete of the Week on Monday during the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table press luncheon at Harry's Plaza Café.
The freshman from Kuristown, Hawaii, won the 200, 500 and 1650 freestyle races and swam on three winning relay teams at the WSC Championships. The Vaqueros won their fourth straight WSC title and went 25-0 this year, extending their conference win streak to 88 straight.
Shimizu posted the No. 2 times in school history while winning the 200 (1:55.23) and 500 (5:16.44). Her 1650 time of 18:16.11 is the third-fastest in school history. Shimizu swam the third leg on the 400 free relay, which broke the WSC and school records in 3:34.41.
The Vaqueros will compete in the CCCAA State Championships on May 3-5 at De Anza College in Cupertino.
