Kelee Shimizu placed sixth in the 200 free on Friday afternoon and Hana Wigzell was seventh in the 400 IM as SBCC remained in ninth place after Day 2 of the CCCAA Women's State Swimming & Diving Championships at De Anza College in Cupertino.
Shimizu clocked 1:56.91 in the 200 free and Wigzell swam the third-fastest 400 IM time in school history in 4:48.31, missing the No. 2 spot by a hundredth of a second.
Ida Due of East Los Angeles broke the state record in the 400 IM in 4:30.49. She broke the record held by SBCC's Rachelle Visser since 2015 by 1.24 seconds.
Orange Coast extended its lead in the 36-school team competition to 162 points. The Pirates have 398 points and San Diego Mesa is second with 236. Diablo Valley is a close third (226) and Sierra is fourth (201).
The Vaqueros stayed in ninth place with 110 points.
SBCC's 200 medley relay was 12th in 1:55.58. Sarah Parson tied for 14th in the 100 breast in 1:11.28.
The 800 free relay was eighth in 8:09.02, winning the B Heat by 5.03 seconds over Santa Rosa. The swimmers were Wigzell, Lily Riley, Shimizu and Haunani Bautista.
