SBCC dropped a 7-2 decision to Ventura in a WSC women's tennis match on Thursday at Pershing Park.

The Mom Brigade – 46-year-old Teresa Downey and 47-year-old Monica Kunz – scored the points for Santa Barbara (2-7, 2-5). Downey, a mother of two, blanked Yannick Garcia 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and continued to show that she's the player to beat in the WSC.

Kunz, who has three children, showed great improvement from her first match with Dania Haucuja, a 2½ hour marathon that Kunz won in two tiebreakers. Kunz won again on Thursday by scores of 6-4, 6-1.

Ventura improved to 6-4 and 4-2.

SBCC hosts Antelope Valley on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
