Saddleback edges Vaqueros 5-4

Saddleback won four of six singles points to edge SBCC 5-4 on Saturday in a nonconference women's tennis match at Mission Viejo.

The Vaqueros' top singles player, Madison Seeds, rallied to beat Ashley Glick 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. Marie Martenhed got the other singles point at No. 6.

Santa Barbara took a 2-1 lead after doubles with Kassandra Ortiz-Julianna Adelman and Madison Ortiz-Gabrielle Goss winning at No. 2 and 3.

"It was a good challenge that really could have gone either way," said coach Randy Moharram. "Maddie Seeds played very well at  #1 singles and Marie Martenhed had a strong debut in the #6 spot."

The Vaqueros return to action on Tuesday at Long Beach City.
