Gabrielle Goss and Kassandra Ortiz won singles and doubles points on Thursday, leading SBCC to a 7-2 women's tennis triumph at Cypress.

Goss, a freshman from Santa Barbara High, rallied to beat Shamine Singh at No. 4 singles, 4-6, 6-2, (10-7 tiebreaker) and teamed with Madison Ortiz to take the No. 3 doubles set 8-2. The Vaqueros improved to 3-1 and the Chargers fell to 1-2. Ortiz is a freshman from Orcutt Adademy.

Tyler Bunderson also overcame a first-set loss to win the No. 2 singles, 6-7 (2), 7-5, (10-2). The Vaqueros won five of six singles matches and two of three in doubles.

"We did a good job of closing out sets and winning tiebreakers," said coach Randy Moharram. "Tyler was down 5-2 in the first set. She kept her cool and took it to a tiebreaker, then carried that momentum into the 2nd set win and the 10-point tiebreaker."

The Vaqueros open WSC play on Tuesday when they host Santa Monica at 2 p.m.
