Vaqueros whip Renegades 8-1 to stay in second

SBCC went 11-0 in singles sets on Thursday on the way to an 8-1 women's tennis victory over Bakersfield on the Pershing Park courts.

The Vaqueros (11-2, 8-1) won 66 of 76 games to post their fourth straight win and 10th in 11 matches. SBCC stayed in second place in the WSC, one game back of Glendale (9-0). Santa Barbara went 4-1 at home in the regular season. Bakersfield falls to 11-8 and 4-5.

Kassandra Ortiz, Gabrielle Goss and Madison Ortiz all posted wins in singles and doubles.

The Vaqueros finish the regular season on Tuesday with a first-place showdown at Glendale, starting at 2 p.m. They need a win to assure themselves of a playoff berth.
