SBCC improved on its first meeting with Glendale but still came up short, dropping a 6-3 women's tennis match on Tuesday at Glendale.

Glendale secured the WSC title with a 10-0 record, two games ahead of the Vaqueros (11-3, 8-2), who lost for just the second time in 12 matches. The 11 wins by Santa Barbara are the second-most in the last 10 years.

Madison Ortiz rallied to win the No. 6 singles 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 and teamed with Gabrielle Goss to take the No. 3 doubles set 8-4. Goss/Ortiz are 11-0 on the season.

Maddie Seeds and Lesly Zapata De Lira rallied from a 7-4 deficit and won the last five games to take the No. 1 doubles 9-7.

"They kept their cool, stayed together and orchestrated an amazing comeback," said coach Randy Moharram.

The Vaqueros finished second in conference but will need to get an at-large invitation to make the eight-team Southern Cal Regional playoffs.

SBCC will play in the WSC Individual Championships on April 1-2 at Ventura.
